Experts have found that adults who venture out on regular day trips report better over-all health, finding that this was particularly true for older adults. Travelling more than 15 miles from your home town to visit different people and places led to more social participation, less loneliness and better health! The findings from University College London show that travelling to new places lowers the risk of illnesses that are related to loneliness - including heart disease, high blood pressure, depression and dementia. As well as reaping the social benefits, the study found that those people who ventured out more often were also more likely to take part in healthy activities, such as long walks when on a day trip.
Travelling by coach is a socially inclusive form of transport which provides a great opportunity to meet likeminded adventurers. Last year a customer thanked us for seating him next to another solo traveller, who, as a regular, made this customer feel at ease during his first trip alone with us. We loved it last summer, too, when some of our customers decided to re-live their childhood and adventure down the slide at Superbloom - what a way to enter the Tower of London's moat - we've even got photo evidence (see above)!
Well, if that's not a good reason to book a Great Day Out we don't know what is!
