Tuesday
Discover the characters who have shaped its history and uncover the secrets of one of Europe’s finest monostatic buildings during a guided tour of Exeter Cathedral. Afterwards, the Cathedral’s Christmas Market will be in full swing with over a hundred twinkling chalets, locally made gifts and global street food to enjoy. Or, perhaps spend time exploring this ancient city which predates the arrival of the Romans! It’s home to the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (free entry) full of fascinating exhibits that uncover the city’s 2000-year history.
Wednesday
Spend the morning at leisure – use the hotel’s complimentary taxi service to Torquay Harbour (departs approx. 10:00 and returns 16:30, prebook before 09:30 on the day), relax in the hotel’s Wellness Centre or take a winter walk along the rugged SW Coastal Path or seafront. Take a trip down memory lane during this afternoon’s visit to the Bygones Museum, just along the coast in Babbacombe. Walk through an authentic Victorian street and a World War Trench, be captivated by the 28-foot model railway and climb aboard a steam engine. Please note that some exhibits at The Bygones Museum can only be accessed by stairs and the ground floor is cobbled.
Thursday
Get to know Plymouth with an introductory coach tour this morning before spending your afternoon at leisure in ‘Ocean City’, aptly nicknamed for its fresh sea air, scenic waterfront, and breathtaking views. The Box (free entry) is Plymouth’s new museum and art gallery, featuring a full size woolly mammoth replica! Or, perhaps take a stroll along the cobbled streets past hundreds of listed buildings in The Barbican & Sutton Harbour.
