Take time for a relaxing holiday at this classic Sussex resort, where listening to the band is a favourite pastime on a fine, sunny day. We’ll stay at the privately owned Best Western Lansdowne Hotel, which has been in the same family ownership since 1912. Its seafront position, overlooking the Western Lawns and Wish Tower with splendid views of the sea and Beachy Head is complimented by the personal touch that four generations of the same family ensures (much like Shaws)! The town centre and pier are both less than five minutes’ walk from the hotel. There's an open top sightseeing bus tour operating out of Eastbourne with 16 stops that you can hop on and off at. Highlights include The Pier, Lifeboat Museum, Italian Gardens, Lighthouse and Birling Gap. Click for route information and details of their 24 hour tickets.
Southern Sussex gardens look beautiful at this time of year, and that's why we've included entry to no less than three beautiful spots. Great Dixter Gardens are a firm favourite with our customers and a place of pilgrimage for horticulturalists across the world. The wild botanic garden at Wakehurst is part of the Royal Botanic Gardens and cared for by the National Trust, click to find out about all the attractions at this special site. The family home at Penshurst Place has no less than 1 mile of yew hedging separating their beautiful 'Garden Rooms', view their interactive map to find out what you can expect and look out for their new Victorian Kitchen which opens in April - this previously hidden area has been carefully restored to its original design.

Tuesday
Spend the morning on the ancient medieval streets of Rye with its cobbled alleys and a relaxed atmosphere. This afternoon, visit a world-renowned place of pilgrimage for horticulturalists – Great Dixter Gardens. Enjoy the scents and scenes of The Sunk Garden, The Exotic Garden, The Peacock Garden and Topiary Lawn, to name but a few. Each unique garden offers a pretty view of the preserved medieval house that they surround.
Wednesday
Enjoy a day at leisure in the classic seaside resort of Eastbourne, maybe walk into town, stroll along the pier or take an open top sightseeing tour?
Thursday
This morning we’ll drive out via Beachy Head to spend time in the pretty village of Alfriston where you’ll find lots of delightful shops and tearooms along with a Grade I listed church known as ‘The Cathedral of the Downs’. Visit the wild botanic garden at Wakehurst – wander in the Himalayan inspired Westwood Valley and discover plants from all over the world in The Mansion Gardens.
Friday
The family home at Penshurst is surrounded by 50 acres of immaculate ‘Garden Rooms’, lakes and an impressive Arboretum.
