Our annual visit to the quaint Cornish coastal village of St. Agnes is always a popular touring holiday, especially as we have arranged a brilliant new itinerary for 2024 featuring scenic drives, free time by the sea and entry to two intriguing attractions. St. Agnes village is not only a World Heritage Site but also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll find no fewer than four unspoilt beaches from which dolphins, sharks and seals have all been spotted – and for fans of Ross Poldark, Winston Graham lived just down the road and used the whole parish as the inspiration for his series of books, dubbing it ‘Poldark Country’!

Customers love this area, read our reviews: "Hotel staff courteous and helpful" and "Enjoyed all the outings, passing through some pretty scenery. A very enjoyable break" and "Very friendly and enjoyable trip". Team member Tory visited the area in Easter 2024 returning with rave reviews for Ann's Pasty Bar and the delicious local fudge on Porthleven Harbour. She also found the perfect spot for a refreshing drink in Marazion - The Godolphin - which overlooks St. Michael's Mount.

Lanhydrock House & Garden won a 2023 Travellers’ Choice Award from Tripadvisor – this is only awarded to attractions that are ranked within the top 10% and consistently earn great visitor reviews!

We always recommend taking out adequate holiday insurance, that's why we’ve partnered with SunWorld holiday insurance who can offer single or annual multi-trip cover. Get your free custom quote.

Monday

Travel to the pretty Cornish village of St. Agnes.

Tuesday

Spend your morning at leisure before an afternoon visit to the mysterious estate at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Hidden by brambles after the outbreak of WW1 this secret garden was reawakened in 1990 to become a garden explorer’s paradise. Expect to find 19th century Pleasure Grounds and the UK’s only outdoor jungle!

Wednesday

Enjoy a scenic tour of the south-west today, beginning at the most southerly port in Britain where a gentle walk along Porthleven harbour is a must! Continue west, pausing to enjoy magical views across to the tidal island of St. Michael’s Mount before heading north to finish the day in the picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town of St. Ives.

Thursday

Spend the day by the sea, enjoy the hotel surroundings or perhaps wander into St. Agnes.

Friday

Enter the quintessential Jacobean country house at Lanhydrock and be surprised by the high-Victorian interior, full of the era’s latest mod-cons! The house was devastated during a fire and refurbished in the late 1800s with a best in country house design. The formal garden is famed for its magnolias and full of colour all year. Then soak up Newquay’s laid-back atmosphere on the fierce Atlantic coast. Hit the beach, enjoy the glorious rose beds in Trenance public gardens or find somewhere to eat with a stunning sea view!

Saturday

Spend the morning in the maritime town of Falmouth, home to an award-winning Maritime Museum, a leading Art Gallery (free entry), the world’s third largest natural deep water harbour and Cornwall’s largest fortress – Pendennis Castle. The High Street is one of the oldest streets in Falmouth and is bursting with independents and hidden courtyards that give alluring glimpses of the sea. Return to St. Agnes mid-afternoon.
