Our annual visit to the quaint Cornish coastal village of St. Agnes is always a popular choice. The village is not only a World Heritage Site but also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll find no fewer than four unspoilt beaches from which dolphins, sharks and seals have all been spotted - and for fans of Ross Poldark, Winston Graham lived just down the road and used the whole parish as the inspiration for his series of books, dubbing it ‘Poldark Country’! This year we’ll visit two of the Great Gardens of Cornwall – Lamorran and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Gardens in this prestigious group have a worldwide reputation for innovation and excellence and because they benefit from the war air of the Gulf Stream they are home to some of the most exciting rare species on the British Isles.
"Enjoyed all the outings, passing through some pretty scenery. A very enjoyable break." 2022 customer comment.
We'd be delighted to request more rooms from the hotel for this popular tour, please send through your booking request and we'll check availability.

Tuesday
Travel to the pretty Cornish village of St. Agnes.
Wednesday
Spend your morning at leisure before an afternoon visit to the mysterious estate at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Hidden by brambles after the outbreak of WW1, this secret garden was reawakened in 1990 to become a garden explorer’s paradise. Expect to find 19th century Pleasure Grounds and the UK’s only outdoor jungle!
Thursday
Spend the morning in the harbour town of Falmouth, home to an award-winning Maritime Museum, a leading Art Gallery and Cornwall’s largest fortress – Pendennis Castle. This afternoon, visit ‘one of Britain’s most exotic and exciting gardens’. Lamorran is a subtropical, Italianate inspired garden with stunning sea views and a unique microclimate supporting colourful plants from across the world. We’ll offer a stop in St. Mawes on the Roseland Peninsula for anyone who would prefer to spend time enjoying the picturesque harbour here instead.
Friday
Spend the day by the sea, enjoy the hotel surroundings or perhaps wander in to St Agnes.
Saturday
Enjoy a scenic tour of the south west today. We’ll stop to enjoy views of the tidal island of St Michael’s Mount before continuing to the crashing Atlantic waves at Land’s End Landmark, where a photo next to the iconic signpost is almost compulsory. Finish the day in the picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town of St. Ives.
Sunday
Visit family-owned Pencarrow House and Gardens this morning. This unique country home, on the edge of Bodmin Moor, hides secret passageways, eye-following portraits and statues sporting top hats! Outside you’ll find Grade II Listed gardens with unique features such as an Iron Age fort, a grotto, a sunken Italian Garden, an ancient Cornish Cross and summer displays in the Memorial Garden.
