Enjoy some free time in the Welsh capital this afternoon – perhaps visit The National Museum of Wales, Cardiff Castle, take a wander through Bute Park or hit the shops.
Wednesday
Start the day with some fresh air at the National Trust’s Edwardian revival gardens at Dyffryn. Garden ‘rooms’ include the Pompeian Garden, Paved Court, Reflecting Pool and Mediterranean Garden, all of which are being carefully restored to their original glory. Spend the afternoon by the sea in Barry with its long golden beach backed by great views from The Wales Coastal Path. Hunt out the boutique independents on the locally labelled ‘High Street Shopping Quarter’.
Thursday
Take a morning ride on the Brecon Mountain Railway passing the Taf Fechan Reservoir and climbing to Torpantau Station, high in the Beacons, and following part of the original line. They’ll be a stop at Pontsticill Station where you’ll find the Lakeside Café. Liven your taste buds at Penderyn Distillery this afternoon. This award-winning site, in the foothills of the Beacons, produces single malt whiskies and spirits. Learn about the unique techniques and finish with a tipple in the Tasting Bar.
Friday
