Be quick - this tour is departing soon so we've released our discounted rooms back to the hotel, we'd be delighted to negotiate more - send your booking request and we'll be in touch. You might like our riverside stay in the Lake District this September or Ireland's Ring of Kerry in October.

Caernarfon lies on the eastern shore of the Menai Strait, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, enjoying tranquil views across the water to the Isle of Anglesey. Crowned a UNESCO World Heritage site, this popular town thrives on history and heritage and is the ideal base to experience some of Snowdonia's most spectacular scenery. The mighty 13th century castle, surrounded by sailing boats bobbing on the calm waters, dominates the backdrop, whilst narrow streets, tucked away in the town, give you the chance to seek out local products. Your hotel is just a short walk from Caernarfon Station which benefitted from a £3.5m investment in 2019 – offering a first-class gateway to Snowdonia National Park. It’s from here that you’ll board the Welsh Highland Railway for a steam journey of a lifetime. Head from steam to sail with a seacoast safari aboard the finest passenger vessel on the Menai Strait, with incredible wildlife spotting opportunities and history dating back to 6th century saints! Portmeirion remains an all-time favourite attraction for our customers – a unique location where the Italian Riviera meets rural Wales. If you’ve previously visited The Lost Gardens of Heligan with us then you may well be interested in the Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens on the Isle of Anglesey. These ancient gardens are being carefully restored by relations of the family that uncovered the secrets of Heligan and are quickly becoming one of the liveliest gardens in Wales.

This is always a popular destination, read our 2023 reviews: “I enjoyed all the outings and the scenery whilst on the coach” and “Everything brilliantly organised”. Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens, Welsh Highland Railway and Seacoast Safaris are winners of a 2023 Travellers’ Choice Award from Tripadvisor – this is only awarded to attractions that are ranked within the top 10% and consistently earn great visitor reviews!

We always recommend taking out adequate holiday insurance, that's why we’ve partnered with SunWorld holiday insurance who can offer single or annual multi-trip cover. Get your free custom quote.

Monday

'Croeso i gymru' - Welcome to Wales with tea, coffee at the hotel.

Tuesday

Spend time in Caernarfon, on the shores of the Menai Strait with Wales' most famous castle as your backdrop – where HM The King was crowned Prince of Wales in 1969. Wander through the pretty streets, watch boats bobbing on the water and take in the distant mountain views. Camera at the ready as we drive over the Nant Francon Pass, then through the Vale of Conwy to Llandudno, to spend time by the sea in a resort that has remained largely unchanged since Victorian times.

Wednesday

Cross the Menai Bridge to the Isle of Anglesey and board an 80-minute seacoast safari to Puffin Island. Informative commentary will guide you through the resident and visiting birds, you may even be lucky enough to spot a grey seal or dolphin. Spend the afternoon at Plas Cadnant – Anglesey’s hidden gardens, winners at the 2023 Nation’s Favourite Gardens awards. This ancient garden is under careful restoration, so far, a curved walled garden, secret valley garden with waterfalls and a woodland garden – complete with 19th century folly – have been discovered.

Thursday

Steam along the UK’s longest heritage railway from Caernarfon, past the foot of Snowdon, to the riverside village of Beddgelert on a two hour journey through unforgettable scenery. Panoramic windows ensure unrivalled views of ancient woodland, mountains, rivers and castles. Then to the unique, Italian inspired village of Portmeirion – with colour-washed buildings and a lively central piazza. Clough Williams-Ellis envisaged this coastal village in the mid 1920s to prove that a beautiful location could be developed without spoiling it.
