Sunday
Enjoy the changing scenery as we arrive in Scotland.
Monday
Visit Scotland’s capital and experience five decks of discovery on board the former floating palace of the late HM Queen Elizabeth II. Royal Yacht Britannia sailed over 1,000,000 nautical miles on 968 state visits – see everything from the Crew Quarters to the State Apartments. There will be free time to enjoy the beautiful city of Edinburgh whilst we are here. Continue to The King’s official Edinburgh residence at Holyroodhouse with ceilings famous for ornate plasterwork and walls adorned with intricate tapestries. Finish with afternoon tea in the historic Mews Courtyard.
Tuesday
Cruise along the Firth of Forth and absorb the astounding engineering of the UNESCO World Heritage Forth Railway Bridge with Edinburgh and Kingdom of Fife in the distance. You may be lucky enough to spot seals and puffins too. Back on dry land, we’ll visit the house and grounds at Hopetoun, Scotland’s finest stately home. The magnificent Georgian interiors remain largely unchanged since the 18th century, with beautifully crafted architecture and period furniture.
Wednesday
Indulge in 650 years of Royal history at Scotland’s most beautiful castle during a guided tour of Glamis. These majestic walls and elegant gardens were the childhood home of The Queen Mother, having previously hosted Mary, Queen of Scots and provided inspiration for Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Visit the home of the world famous RRS Discovery – the ship that took Scott to Antarctica in 1901 and went on to be designated a Royal Research Ship in 1923.
