This is such a lovely part of the country, with endless unspoilt countryside just waiting to be explored. This tour takes you on a journey through the county’s fascinating past, from grand National Trust mansions to a 1400-year-old coastal fortress to the world-famous Beamish Living Museum of the North. This fascinating site was rated number 1 in The Times 2022 list of Best Open-air Museums, hardly surprising when you look at their ambitious £20m project - Beamish Remaking. 2022 additions include Coronation Park and Front Street Terrace in the 1950's town, in total 24 unique exhibits will be added to this site - find out more.
You'll be staying on the banks of the Tyne in Newcastle Quayside, right in the heart of this vibrant city. This is the only hotel in Newcastle where every single room overlooks the River Tyne! National Trust Members benefit from a fantastic £10 saving on this tour and if you're an Historic Houses Member too you'll save an extra £5!
We'd be delighted to request more rooms from the hotel for this popular tour, please send through your booking request and we'll check availability.

There’s plenty to see with State Rooms full of global treasures, battle-scarred weapons in The Armoury, Anglo-Saxon archaeology and much more.
Wednesday
Spend the morning in the historic market town of Hexham, dominated by its fine medieval Abbey. This afternoon, discover the National Trust property at Wallington, an impressive home for an unconventional family, full of quirky curiosities and surrounded by rolling hills, lakes and a hidden walled garden.
Thursday
Visit Britain’s original smart home at Cragside! This pioneering mansion is illuminated with hydroelectricity, powered by hydraulics and packed with Victorian gadgets. It’s surrounded by a fantasy mountain landscape, featuring tumbling waterfalls, imagined by resident inventor Lord Armstrong. Return to the hotel for afternoon tea and free time in this vibrant, cultural city.
