This tour is a real celebration of Scotland! Be entertained every evening and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere created by The Winnock Hotel in the beautiful surroundings of the Trossachs National Park. From Scottish weaponry to music from The Jersey Boys, with a traditional Scottish House Party in between – and did someone say FREE BAR every night? The hotel is ready to welcome you! Experience unforgettable Scottish scenery along one of the country’s most famous routes - The Rest and Be Thankful Pass - and take in the unspoilt nature that surrounds Loch Katrine on a relaxing cruise. Sail again, but through the air this time, on the pioneering Falkirk Wheel and learn more about the area’s impressive industrial past at Glasgow’s modern Riverside Museum.
Tour code: B3387
Monday
Enjoy impressive Scottish scenery en route to the hotel
Tuesday
Sail through the sky on the world’s only rotating boat lift at the famous Falkirk Wheel. Opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002, it reconnected Falkirk’s two canals which were originally linked by a flight of 11 locks which took nearly 24 hours to transit! Later, see the world’s largest pair of equine sculptures – the Kelpies – which pay homage to the working horses of Scotland that used to pull canal barges and work in the fields within which they now stand so majestically.
Wednesday
Sit back and enjoy spectacular scenery along Loch Lomond to the Green Welly Stop at Tyndrum, where you might choose to pick up a Scottish souvenir. Continue via Glen Lochy and Loch Awe to the pretty lakeside town of Inveraray on Loch Fyne. From here we’ll follow the shoreline to the awesome Rest & Be Thankful Pass, an incredible route that reaches highs of 803 ft above sea level.
Thursday
Enjoy a two-hour cruise on Loch Katrine this morning, taking in the unspoilt natural beauty that surrounds this vast yet tranquil expanse, made famous by Sir Walter Scott’s vivid descriptions. Return to the hotel for a light lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing here or re-join the coach for an afternoon at Glasgow’s Riverside Museum. This impressive building – that opened in 2011 - gives a fascinating insight into the city’s innovative industrial past.
