Take time for a relaxing holiday at this classic Sussex resort, where listening to the band is a favourite pastime on a fine, sunny day. We’ll stay at the privately owned Best Western Lansdowne Hotel, which has been in the same family ownership since 1912. Its seafront position, overlooking the Western Lawns and Wish Tower with splendid views of the sea and Beachy Head is complimented by the personal touch that four generations of the same family ensures (much like Shaws)! The Congress Theatre, Winter Garden and Devonshire Park Theatre are all less than five minutes’ walk from the hotel, as are the town centre and pier.

There's an open top sightseeing bus tour operating out of Eastbourne with 16 stops that you can hop on and off at. Highlights include The Pier, Lifeboat Museum, Italian Gardens, Lighthouse and Birling Gap. Click for route information and details of their 24 hour tickets.

There's a wait list for singles on this popular tour, please send through you booking request and we'll be in touch if availability changes.

Monday

Check in with tea/coffee on arrival.

Thursday

This morning we’ll drive out via Beachy Head, to spend time in the pretty village of Alfriston where you’ll find lots of delightful shops and tearooms along with their Grade I listed church known as ‘The Cathedral of the Downs’. Back in Eastbourne, have a relaxing afternoon and maybe enjoy a walk into town, a stroll along the pier or an open top sightseeing tour?

Wednesday

Spend the morning at leisure in Eastbourne before an afternoon visit to Great Dixter House & Gardens. It’s a place of pilgrimage for horticulturalists featuring The Sunk Garden, The Exotic Garden, The Peacock Garden and Topiary Lawn, to name but a few. Each garden offers a pretty view of the preserved medieval house that they surround.

Tuesday

Travel through 11 miles of glorious Sussex scenery on the heritage Bluebell Railway in carefully preserved vintage carriages pulled by a vintage steam locomotive. This beautiful line features original working signal boxes and traditional stations. This afternoon, visit the National Trust's Sheffield Park and Garden, a landscape garden with influences of ‘Capability Brown’ featuring four lakes, paths through the glades and historic parkland.

Friday

Our homeward journey features a sightseeing stop in the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells followed by a 2-course lunch to finish off your holiday.
