Enjoy an early autumn break on the English Riviera, staying on Torquay's picturesque headland with direct access to the SW Coastal Path. Much of Devon is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, head inland to experience the seemingly endless scenery of Dartmoor National Park where wild ponies roam this rugged protected landscape.
We stayed at The Headland and visited Buckfast Abbey in July 2022 - "Great holiday! Normal Shaws fantastic high standard".
Team member Tory visited this beautiful part of the country in April, read her review.

Tuesday
Spend the morning at leisure - perhaps make the most of the hotel’s leisure facilities or take a scenic stroll along the SW Coastal Path. This afternoon, enjoy a lovely drive along the coast, around the Exe Estuary to the charming, unspoilt resort of Budleigh Salterton with a pebble beach and independent shops.
Wednesday
It’s all about Dartmoor National Park today, starting with a morning break in the quaint moorland village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. We’ll continue to Badgers Holt Tearooms where we’ve arranged a Ploughman’s lunch at this tranquil beauty spot. Finish the day with peace and serenity at Buckfast Abbey. The impressive 11th century Abbey is complimented by spacious gardens, a restaurant and gift shops.
Thursday
This morning, we’ll sail down the River Dart to the National Trust’s Greenway House & Gardens, treasured holiday home of Agatha Christie. The Georgian house is full of collectables and the woodland and walled gardens make for a lovely autumnal walk. Sail back to Dartmouth and finish the day with free time in this picturesque naval town.
