This tour has now been and gone but don't worry, we have lots more relaxing holidays to choose from.
Head to Lancashire for a county of contrasting scenery, popular seaside resorts and, of course, a wealth of history. In fact, it’s often referred to as ‘Red Rose Country’, taking its emblem from the heraldic badge adopted by the House of Lancaster during the Wars of the Roses between the houses of York and Lancaster. You’ll be staying at a super, 4 star hotel, set inside a beautiful 700-year-old country manor house which was completely refurbished in 2020. The building retains many of its original features, including turrets, porticos and a vast staircase and is surrounded by extensive landscaped grounds.

Sunday
Travel to Lancashire.
Monday
Sit back and enjoy some spectacular scenery as we thread our way through the nearby fells to the moors and dales of the White Rose county! Enjoy a browse round the cobbled streets of Skipton before we travel through the Yorkshire Dales National Park to Hawes and on through Garsdale to Sedbergh before heading south again to return to the hotel by way of Kirkby Lonsdale and Clitheroe.
Tuesday
Spend this morning at Leighton Hall, a romantic Gothic stately home that’s surrounded by magnificent parkland. It’s the ancestral home of the furniture-making Gillow family, so don’t be surprised to see some lovely pieces during your guided tour of the house. Later, enjoy a stroll along the front at Morecambe and the wonderful views across the Bay towards the Lake District.
Wednesday
Join us for a day by the sea at the classic Victorian resort of Southport, where you can dip your toes in the water or maybe take a stroll along the UK’s oldest iron pier. Explore the shops along tree-lined boulevard, Lord Street, with its wrought iron canopies and wander through the Grade II Wayfarers Shopping Arcade, with its independent stores. On our way back to the hotel, we’ll call at Barton Grange, an award-winning garden centre that’s something of a hotspot destination in the area.
Thursday
Home today but not before you spend a couple of hours at the famous Oswaldtwistle Mills. You’ll find a huge selection of retailers at this old weaving mill, as well as a Textile & Heritage Museum and a wildfowl reserve. And as a last treat, why not pop into the Ice Cream Parlour for something sweet!
