Founded in 1977 by Sir Peter Murray CBE, Yorkshire Sculpture Park was the first sculpture park in the UK and is the largest of its kind in Europe. It’s the only place in Europe to see Barbara Hepworth’s The Family of Man in its entirety, alongside a significant collection of sculptures, including bronzes by Henry Moore, and site-specific works by Andy Goldsworthy, David Nash and James Turrell. Set in a beautiful, landscaped garden laid out in the 18th century, it's a place to wander, discover and be amazed. This 500-acre outdoor art gallery is full of endless trails, download their map which highlights three start points.
The park also features a world-class, year-round temporary exhibitions programme hosting some of the world’s leading artists outside and across six indoor galleries too and from June '23 to April 24' it's your chance to see the extraordinary works of Erwin Wurm, one of Austria's most prominent artists. Trap of the Truth features over 100 works, many on display for the very first time! "His work disrupts perceptions of the familiar and sensible and in a process that abounds with humour and experimentation, he frequently reimagines commonplace objects by giving them human characteristics." says YSP, find out more.
We're due to arrive at 12:15 and we'll leave at 16:15. There will be a short comfort stop at the services on the outward journey. Please note this journey also drops off and picks up in Barnsley for passengers that wish to spend the day at the markets there instead.
