This tour has now been and gone, but don't worry, we've got lots more Great Days Out to choose from.
Discover the city’s Roman roots and Viking past, visit world class museums or the magnificent Minster. Delve into the myriad of interesting shops in the cobbled streets and alleyways, take a relaxing cruise along the river or look out over the historic surroundings by walking the ancient city walls - filling a day in York is so easy!
At a glance... York Minster is a masterpiece of stained glass and stone, recognised as one of the grandest cathedrals in the world. York Castle Museum gives you a glimpse in to 400 years of life in the city, from luxurious rich dwellings to poverty on the streets. The free-to-enter National Railway Museum brings you up close to iconic locomotives, with the option to add on tickets to ride their Miniature Railway, the Mallard Experience and more. A York City Cruise along the River Ouse offers an alternative and relaxing way to see the sights. There should be some great photo opportunities and you may even spot a kingfisher as you meander past historic buildings and under ancient stone bridges!
You’ll be spoilt for choice with eating, drinking and shopping spots in the city. A saunter down the Shambles is a must. With overhanging timber buildings and a narrow cobbled floor, it's one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe.
We’re due to arrive at 11:45 and depart at 16:45. The coach will stop at the Union Terrace Coach Park and it’s just a short walk down Gillygate to the heart of this historic city.
Entry fees may apply and pre-booking may be required at the suggested attractions. Please check with the venues before departure
