This is Britain’s original seaside resort complete with two beautiful bays and a picturesque fishing harbour on Yorkshire's stunning heritage coastline. North Bay and South Bay are backed by some lovely public gardens that are worth a wander in summertime. Look out for South Cliff Gardens with a Rose Garden and a maze of wooded paths, along with the St. Nicholas Gardens - home to Scarborough's very own Canary Island Date Palm! Did you know that the town is also home to one of the first purpose-built museums in the world? The Rotunda tells the incredible story of the area's natural history and the rich fossil-finds across Yorkshire’s heritage coast. Don’t miss three floors of quirky shopping at Scarborough Market Hall which benefitted from a £2.7m refurbishment in 2017! Perhaps take a nostalgic ride in the one of Britain's oldest funicular cliff lifts, linking the South Cliff Esplanade to Scarborough Spa. The original hydraulic system (now electric) opened in 1875 and during its peak in 1945 it carried 1.2 million passengers!
We're due to arrive at 12:30 and depart at 17:30, the coach will set down and pick up on Valley Road between Vernon Road and Valley Bridge. There will be a short services comfort stop on the outward and return journey. Entry fees may apply and pre-booking may be required at the suggested attractions. Please check with the venues before departure.
