During the 19th century, smoke from thousands of iron foundries filled the Midlands air, described by Burritt as 'Black by day and red by night', and so the term Black Country was born. Explore the shops, house and workshops that have been rebuilt in a canalside village where historical characters will bring history to life. Test your times-tables in the school room, watch a vintage film in the cinema, taste the past in the 1930s chip shop, there's so much to see and do here to suit all ages. The museum has played host to film crews including the notorious Peaky Blinders - a stroll through the Museum's alleys will transport you back to the underworld.
