A palace in all but name, this 17th century country house, now in the care of English Heritage, is renowned as one of the finest Jacobean houses in England. The glorious state rooms reflect the taste of the third Lord Braybrooke, who redecorated many of these rooms in the Jacobean style in the 1820’s. Tickle the ivories on the piano or play with the toys in the Nursery; explore the Service Wing including historic kitchens, a dairy and laundry rooms to see what life would have been like for the Victorian servants and stroll over to the stable yard to meet the horses. Step outside to admire the award-winning gardens, remodelled by Capability Brown and wander through the surrounding parkland to discover the peaceful Elysian Garden and a memorial to the Second World War Polish resistance soldiers.

We're due to arrive at 11:00 and depart at 15:30, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the house, gardens and perhaps a treat from the Servant's Hall Tea Room or Cart Yard Café.

English Heritage members can save! If you have a valid membership card then you only need to pay for travel - £25 for adults and £22.50 for seniors/children. Just let us know on your ticket request.
